Mimi's Helpful Day

The sun shines. Mimi is a little bunny. She has a blue scarf. A red bucket is in her hand. She heads to the park. Slides slide, and swings swing. "I'll help today," says Mimi.

Under the bench, a ball is stuck. Spiky, the hedgehog, stomps. "I don't reach it." Mimi squats. She reaches in with the bucket's handle. Knock, knock, the ball rolls. Hop, the ball is out! Spiky laughs. "Thank you, Mimi!" Mimi smiles. "You're welcome."

At the sandbox sits Lili, the little kitten. She has no bucket, only a little spoon. The sand makes a sad pile. Mimi walks over. "Here is my red bucket." Lili sparkles! They shovel. Tower, tower, tower! Gate, ditch, bridge! The castle grows. "Look, how high!"

On the road slides Curly, the snail. A big leaf stands before him. The leaf is wet and heavy. Curly moves slowly. Mimi lifts the leaf. The way is free! Curly slides on. "Thank you," he whispers. Mimi waves.

The park is full of laughter. Balls bounce. Shovels tinkle. Friends walk hand in hand. Mimi skips. "I helped today." Her heart is warm. The sun is warm too. The sun shines on.
